Atlantic / U.S. East Coast
On the East Coast, on-board cameras are being used to track the bycatch of bluefin tuna in the Atlantic pelagic longline fishery. In the Northeast, there are pilot projects in the groundfish fishery and the midwater trawl herring and mackerel fisheries, with full implementation expected in the next few years. In 2019, the New England Fishery Management Council began discussing the possibility of coordinating with other councils to mandate EM for the entire East Coast.
