Teem Fish Monitoring Inc. is a Canadian social enterprise focused on design and delivery of efficient, effective electronic monitoring (EM) programs. Launched in 2019 by Ecotrust Canada, we draw on Ecotrust’s expertise in fisheries policy, marine monitoring, and electronic monitoring service delivery. All our work is grounded in Ecotrust’s mission to develop innovative solutions to major economic, social and environmental threats faced by communities, resource users and First Nations.
Through our strategic partnership with Snap Information Technology (SnapIT) we are able to offer state-of-the-art monitoring hardware and software technology, and our delivery team includes SnapIT’s software developers, Artificial Intelligence (AI) developers, and electronic engineers. As a group, we have the designs to make EM an affordable option for more vessels in order to establish fisheries worldwide that support the wellbeing of human systems and ecological ones. The design and system that we offer are what we call EM2.0 and is built around AI in both data capture and analysis.

As no two fisheries are entirely alike, Teem Fish works with local partners to create and deploy sustainable solutions tailored to each fishery’s needs. Whether the focus is catch assessment, reducing endangered animal interactions or compliance reporting, we provide unique solutions to meet all regulatory requirements. We work with fish harvesters to configure unobtrusive solutions that are just right for their boat, so they can get on fishing.
In partnership with SnapIT, we have developed affordable technology solutions, tailor-made to work in the toughest fishing conditions. SnapIT is known for high-definition image capture marine cameras; hardware and software innovations; and AI development. We equip fishing vessels with the custom hardware, software and storage technology needed to capture, analyze, deliver and store fisheries data. Our systems range from small solar-powered wireless satellite vessel tracking units to HD camera systems with 360 degree pan, tilt, and zoom capabilities, and on-board systems with remote data transmission. Our technology also includes the ability to integrate AI in both data capture and analysis to reduce data review and storage costs.
