A key barrier to achieving successful fisheries management is the widespread lack of fisheries monitoring. This guide describes some of the major fishery monitoring challenges that can be addressed with current or soon-to-be available technology, the barriers to the uptake of monitoring technology, and a human-centered design process intended to identify and address these barriers in specific fisheries, increasing the likelihood that monitoring and enforcement programs will be adopted more widely.
