2015 SW England/North Sea multispecies program

Number of vessels in the program: 3

Geographic scope of the program: South West of England and North Sea

Goals of the program:

  1. To determine if REM technology can provide biological and catch data and help meet DCF/DC-MAP requirements.
  2. To compare the accuracy of REM data to that collected by standard at sea observer and onshore landings sampling methods.
  3. To determine which sampling method presents the most cost effective solution with an acceptable degree of accuracy and precision.
  4. To identify if any improvements can be made to sampling methods or if there is an optimal sampling strategies (coverage) to meet enforcement and scientific monitoring needs.
