Biography
Mike Gerner is a fisheries monitoring subject matter expert, working with non-government organisations, government and fishing industry partners to develop electronic monitoring programs. In previous roles he was AFMA’s EM manager and supported the role out of EM in Australian fisheries. He has been responsible for the design, development and implementation of a fully implemented program that has complimented and in some cases replaced existing observer monitoring programs. His experience in the management of third party contractors to deliver EM services and the designing of Artificial Intelligence frameworks to improve existing programs places him the forefront of EM program design.
