Biography

Jessica is a marine park manager with a background in coral reef ecology, environmental monitoring and reporting. She commenced work with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority in 2002, and over 20 years worked in a range of areas including Indigenous Partnerships, Science Coordination and integrated monitoring and reporting. Jessica recently moved to the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment as Director - Reef Fisheries and is keen to work across governments and with fishers to learn more about e-monitoring, independent observer programs, and traceability in export fisheries. While the focus is within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area and Coral Sea, she is also interested in cross-learnings nationally and internationally. The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment is responsible for assessing the environmental performance of fisheries and promoting ecologically sustainable management.
